Mooney Suzuki are gay! They aren't, and have never been, a first rate band. Sorry Evan! I guess they were fun-ish live, but way posey and too into themselves. I would PRETEND to be gay to tour with those ladies though. Pretend, okay? XO, Philthy
OOOOh. "way too posey and too into themselves"..."gay".......... hmmmmm........... at one point I would have been offended by such remarks but in hindsight i agree with you on the first part at least (im not making any guesses about their sexual preference - although when Stuben and I interviewed the lead guitarist and drummer for the skidnews, the drummer did claim to have been an art fag in high school so...?) They got enough schtick to feed an army, obviously, but they are a lot of fun live. As much as their last album was one of the more pathetic pieces of garbage id heard in a long time, "People Get Ready" will always be one of my favorites, ever. and im holding out hope that a band that produced a masterpiece like that can turn it around. P.S. I wouldnt even pretend to be gay to hang out with the Sahara Hotnights, I'd just straight up convert.
I'm only going with the "gay" thing because the ladies said it. Not that there's anything wrong with that, being offensive I mean. I played a song off the first record out of the hotbox at WSPN on my show, all-right but rang a little hollow for me. Never owned it and dug the second one even less. Steve Smith liked the Matrix shit but I couldn't bring myself to bother. I'm just mad because they wouldn't get with me at Valentines after I shagged the whole Sahara band.....Ha! XO, P
