As cool as it is that rumsfeld got let go and on a wed. no less (Dumping day is Fri not just for being fired at your job but in politics when people dont read the paper for 2 days) the joke is on us and the troops and the iraquis and everyone else that is touched in any way by what has been going on since we came back from the Rock and roll HOF in college. And for 1/2 of that time people have been strongly calling for DR's resignation and the big man not letting him go for the last few months pretty much proved to everyone paying attention that the big man had no clue what was going the fuck on here, there or anywhere. Finally the people spoke in a way you can't ignore. I mean crowds of protesters can be ignored b/c they usually side left of warmongering but voters usually are closer to the middle and the voters on the right seemed to go left and that is tough to push back and pretend like it didnt happen. but to be real, its not like once the democrats took back the house and possibly senate (fingers crossed) that they werent going to demand his resignation, and hold hearings to get his resignation. This was the easiest way Bush could have dealt with this now. Of course, firing DR motnhs ago wouldnt've been staying the course but it would have perhaps saved the repubs the senate & house and showed that he wasn't the kid getting forced to bed while the folks stay up and have all the fun (everyone else in his administration). Its only the beginning. And for our baby blue, its all over now.
On a lighter note, when my dad was growing up in illinois, his elementary school class took a trip to Washington DC to meet their congressman who happend to be Donald Rumsfeld. The two Donalds got a picture together somewhere but my dad aint showing.
